Therapeutic Endoscopy of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic System: A Vietnamese Experience

چکیده
INTRODUCTION Therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was initially utilized at Binh Dan Hospital, Viet Nam, in August 1993. From August 1993 through March 1997, 318 ERCP procedures were performed on 271 patients. It was not possible to obtain cholangiography in 32 cases of the 318 procedures of ERCP, for a success rate of diagnostic ERCP approaching 89%. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cases treated by ERCP included: 14 cases of Ascaris lumbricoides in the common bile duct (CBD). 69 cases of bile duct stones. 12 cases managed by nasobiliary catheter drainage. 3 cases treated by bile duct stent. Sphincterotomy was attempted on 108 cases. Complications included: 5 cases of acute pancreatitis. 7 cases of purulent cholangitis, which resulted in 1 death. 2 cases of retroperitoneal duodenal perforation. 9 cases of postsphincterotomy bleeding. CONCLUSIONS We conclude that ERCP is a useful therapeutic modality for bile duct stones and parasitic worms in the bile ducts.

Paediatric pancreaticobiliary endoscopy: a 21-year experience from a tertiary hepatobiliary centre and systematic literature review
BACKGROUND In adults ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) are standard methods of evaluating and treating many hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) conditions. HPB disease is being diagnosed with increasing frequency in children but information about role of ERCP and EUS and their outcomes in this population remain limited. Therefore the aims of this study were to describe the paediatric ERCP and EUS...
متن کاملEndoscopic ultrasound imaging of pancreatic duct ascariasis.
Ascaris lumbricoides infestation is endemic in tropical countries. Most infections by A. lumbricoides are asymptomatic, but they can produce a wide spectrum of manifestations including hepatobiliary and pancreatic complications. Pancreatic ascariasis is a rare entity. In a study of 500 patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease due to A. lumbricoides infection, only seven had pancreatic...
متن کاملmiR-92a promotes hepatocellular carcinoma cells proliferation and invasion by FOXA2 targeting
Objective(s): MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are considered as powerful, post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression in hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HCC). However, the function of miR-92a is still unclear in HCC. Materials and Methods: Expression of miR-92a in human HCC cell lines was evaluated using qRT-PCR. MTT assay and transwell assay were used to examine the function of miR-92a in HepG2 and ...
متن کاملSplenic Injury and ERCP: A Possible Risk for Patients with Advanced Chronic Pancreatitis
Splenic injury is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication of endoscopy, with very few cases of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)-induced injury reported in the literature. Here we report a patient with chronic alcoholic pancreatitis who was diagnosed with a sub-capsular splenic laceration nearly 6 days after an ERCP. Clinicians should be alerted to the potential...
متن کاملMicroRNAs in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancers
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that function as endogenous silencers of numerous target genes. Hundreds of miRNAs have been identified in the human genome. miRNAs are expressed in a tissue-specific manner and play important roles in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. Aberrant expression of miRNAs may also contribute to the development and progression of human hepa...
